About Us

Our Story

Lady of the House is a globally recognised initiative dedicated to celebrating, honouring, and championing women in Dance Music. More than just a movement, it is a multifunctional platform built to educate, empower, and diversify the music industry.

Launched with the groundbreaking, first-of-its-kind book that sold out upon release, Lady of the House told the stories of 150 women spanning every corner of the business – from artists and label owners to managers, promoters, and pioneers. Powerhouses such as Charlotte De Witte, Ultra Naté, Nina Kraviz, Nicole Moudaber, Jocelyn Brown, Sister Bliss, and Maya Jane Coles were all featured, alongside a special foreword from Carl Cox. Supported from day one by Defected, Focusrite, Insanity Group, and the wider global dance community, the project quickly evolved into a worldwide cultural force.

The initiative has earned recognition across major media outlets including Billboard, NME, DJ Mag, Mixmag, Resident Advisor, Pitchfork, The Guardian, BBC, and EDM.com. Lady of the House has hosted showcases, panels, and discussions at leading festivals and conferences such as International Music Summit, Amsterdam Dance Event, Bestival, and Arc Festival Chicago, featuring dynamic artists like TSHA, LP Giobbi, Anja Schneider, and Anabel Englund. Collaborations with global brands and institutions such as Red Bull, Beatport, Pioneer DJ, Spinnin’ Records, W Hotels, Broadwick Live, Ultra Festival, AVA Festival, and the V&A Museum further highlight the movement’s impact, including landmark exhibitions with appearances from Eats Everything, Livin’ Joy, Shermanology, CiCi, and Barbara Tucker.

With a respected advisory board that includes Maria May (Head of Electronic at CAA) and Lynn Cosgrave (Founder of Safehouse Management & the first female VP at Sony), Lady of the House is recognised, protected, and endorsed by key industry and governmental bodies including Arts Council England, PRS, PPL, and AFEM. The initiative has submitted evidence to the UK Parliament’s Misogyny in Music inquiry and contributed expertise to research including the Jaguar Foundation and Sony Social Justice and Equality Fund’s Gender Progression in Dance Music report.

Its record label has launched and supported numerous emerging artists, releasing more than 35 records with early A&R guided by Becky Hill, Jaguar, Sam Divine, and Charlie Tee. With support from Radio 1 champions Sarah Story, Danny Howard, Jaguar, and Arielle Free, the label has seen tracks chart on Beatport, Traxsource, iTunes, and Music Week, and has expanded internationally with the support of Brazilian godmothers Joyce Muniz and Aninha. Stateside ambassadors include Ms Mada (Space Miami), DJ Heather (Chicago), and Anané Vega (New York), further cementing its global presence.

To date, Lady of the House has reached over 300 million people worldwide through media, online platforms, and live activations, while working with over 2000 women and non-binary professionals to amplify their voices and careers. The initiative has been nominated for multiple awards, including the BBC Radio 1 Dance Impact Award, recognised on the Alternative Power 100 list, and named the first recipient of Beatport’s Gender Parity Initiative award.

Through partnerships, interviews, and collaborations across iconic cultural touchpoints from Glastonbury and Miami Music Week to Movement Detroit and Elrow, Lady of the House continues to drive impact on a global scale. Its international expansions include Brazil – where ambassador Camz has partnered with D-Edge, Laroc, Borel Agency, and Housemag with support from Carola, Aninha, and Joyce Muniz – as well as South Africa, where the initiative has been honoured with Jägermeister’s Save The Night Award.

From books to exhibitions, conferences to festivals, releases to research, Lady of the House continues to grow as the go-to brand for women in Dance Music – recognised worldwide as a leader in driving cultural change, equality, and progression across the industry.
